After studying general sciences for two years at the University of Guelph and Langara College, Marcella enrolled at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, graduating in 1993. Massage therapy became part of her health care regime along with naturopathy and chiropractic treatments when she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 1988. She has been symptom free for almost 20 years.
Andrew Weil, MD, author of Spontaneous Healing wrote, “It works on the premise…that the body can heal itself if given a chance.” My role as a Registered Massage Therapist is to apply the art of listening to the body’s tissues and to support it where it is trying hardest to correct itself. Combining this with a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and disease processes, my goal is to facilitate, release and balance the body tissues thus achieving a sense of well-being. Drawing on her 17 years of experience, your treatment plan with Marcella will include a combination of therapies.
When not practicing, Marcella enjoys biking with her family, cooking healthy meals and reading a good book. Recently she has relocated to Vancouver from northern BC, and is excited to be a part of the talented team of professionals at Burnaby Heights Integrative HealthCare.
